The Basilica of the Holy Blood and the Rulers of Flanders

A hidden gem, tucked away in a corner, in Bruges is the Basilica of the Holy Blood. It has many images of the rulers of Flanders, beginning with the figures on the front of the building. I can’t find any official literature identifying these images, so these are my guesses below.

You might have guessed by the name, but the Basilica claims to have the blood of Jesus, now in a vial on display. You can kind of see the line of people lining up to see it in the video. There’s even an annual procession for it. It was brought from the Holy Land by Margaret’s father.  The basilica is gorgeous and it has a treasury that you have to pay to enter.
