Augusta of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach was born on 30 September 1811 as the daughter of Charles Frederick, Grand Duke of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach and Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia. The Church of Peace (Friedenskirche) is located on the palace grounds of Sanssouci Park in Potsdam. It was built on the orders of King Frederick William IV of Prussia. The original Stolzenfels castle in Koblenz in Germany was built in the 13th century but it was destroyed by the French in 1689. Charlottenburg Palace is the largest palace in Berlin, and it sits in the Palace Garden. Naturally, there was some construction going on while I was there. Sanssouci Park is a great park with many buildings. Most were built in the 18th century and were expanded in the 19th. Sanssouci Palace is its main focus, but it houses many more amazing buildings.
