Castles of Augustusburg and Falkenlust at Brühl

I went to Cologne two weeks ago and near Cologne is the city of Brühl. Brühl is the home of Augustusburg and the hunting lodge Falkenlust. Though they have no specific connection to a royal woman, they house some amazing paintings of relations of their first owner Archbishop-Elector of Cologne, Clemens August of Bavaria. He was the son of the  Elector Maximilian II Emanuel of Bavaria and Theresa Kunegunda Sobieska.

Unfortunately, there was quite a bit of construction going on! Hopefully, the final result is worth it!

Photography was, as usual, not allowed. Augustusburg was very pretty on the inside. It had a huge marble staircase and an amazing fresco. As said, it is the home of many paintings of the Wittelsbach family. I really liked the use of the Dutch tiles in the summer apartments!
