Born on 10 December 2014, Princess Gabriella is Monaco’s youngest princess. She is the only daughter of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco and holds the full title of Her Serene Highness Princess Gabriella Thérèse Marie of Monaco, Countess of Carladès.
Gabriella was born in Monaco’s Princess Grace Hospital Centre, two minutes ahead of her twin brother, Hereditary Prince Jacques. Although she was born first, Gabriella is second in line to the throne behind her younger brother as Monaco follows male-preference primogeniture – meaning younger brothers take precedence over older sisters.
She has two older half-siblings from her father’s previous relationships: American-born Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, 29, and French-born Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste, 17.
Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques were presented to the Monegasque people on 7 January 2015 from the Princely Palace. A few months later, on 10 May, she and her brother were christened at Saint Nicholas Cathedral and bestowed the Order of Grimaldi by their father.
The twins attended Petite Ecole, a private pre-school; they now attend the public Stella School in Monaco. They speak Monaco’s native language of French and their mother’s native language, English.
Princess Gabriella attends some events alongside her parents and siblings each year, including the National Day celebrations in November, St John’s Day in June, and the traditional Christmas party for Monegasque children in December.
They also regularly feature on their mother’s official Instagram account, where Princess Charlene shares tidbits about their daily life – like their first day of school and trips to the United States and Africa.
Gabriella also has a police boat named after her, “Princess Gabriella,” and attended the baptism alongside her parents in December 2020. She had the honour of releasing the cord to break the bottle on the boat’s hull.
As the young royal becomes older, she is expected to undertake more engagements alongside her parents. She will turn seven in December.
