The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry said: “It has been twenty years since our mother’s death and the time is right to recognise her positive impact in the UK and around the world with a permanent statue. Our mother touched so many lives. We hope the statue will help all those who visit Kensington Palace to reflect on her life and her legacy.”
The two princes will privately raise funds for the statue, which will hopefully be completed by the end of 2017. The year 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death. She died on 31 August 1997 in a car accident in Paris. Kensington Palace will also feature an exhibition called, “Diana, Her Fashion Story” and a new temporary garden called. “the White Garden” will also happen.
